Continually surface what your team should focus on next

Always know what you should work on next with custom-built prioritization frameworks.

Product prioritization templates and frameworks

Start with a built-in prioritization framework

Choose from two ready-to-use templates, designed with product management best practices in-mind: Value vs. Effort and R.I.C.E. (reach, impact, confidence, and effort).

Value vs. Effort

Analyze your roadmap through the lense of the amount of value each task brings to the company against how much effort it will take to achieve.

RICE scoring model

Analyze your roadmap for what issues will be most important for reach, impact for your users or customers, your confidence in success rate, and the effort it takes to make it all work.

Idea management

Add customer-validated ideas

There is no shortage of great ideas in a product team. However, it’s not always easy to directly connect a great idea to customer feedback. With Idea Manager for Strategic Roadmaps, you can directly link collected feedback to ideas to make credible, customer-driven product decisions.

Feedback portal

Collect valuable insights from your users, internal teams, or external stakeholders, all by sharing the URL to your unique feedback submission form.

Link feedback to ideas

Each piece of feedback gets directed to a product or feature – so you’ll only need to review the feedback that's relevant to the product area you’re working on.

Prioritize ideas and features

Rank ideas by prioritization score

The values you assign to an idea will impact its prioritization score. For example, an idea that has been marked as high effort will have a lower prioritization score because of its impact on team resources. Once all ideas have been rated and scored, Strategic Roadmaps will systematically rank ideas from highest to lowest score – surfacing which ideas your team should focus on next.

Assign values to your ideas

Built-in prioritization factors provide a simple mechanism for product teams to visualize and measure an idea’s potential impact.

Custom prioritization models

Use custom factors to build a weighted prioritization model that’s right for your product team.

Roadmapping for product teams

Promote ideas to your roadmap

Promote your high-impact product ideas to a roadmap and commit to making them happen. With Idea Manager for Strategic Roadmaps’ simple and powerful roadmapping features, you can choose between different visualizations (timeline or swimlane) and create multiple roadmap views from one data set.

Never leave an idea behind

Store your team’s ideas separately and then promote high-impact ideas to your roadmap when they are ready.

A more collaborative environment

Foster communication and agility by having all ideas represented and able to quickly pivot to new plans when projects (inevitably) change on the fly.

Transform your innovation process

Never leave a good idea behind again

Staples solves product management visibility challenge with Strategic Roadmaps

Staples is a renowned office retail giant, providing a comprehensive range of products and services tailored to the needs of businesses, students, and professionals alike. With a rich history spanning several decades, Staples has established itself as a go-to destination for office supplies, technology, furniture, and print services.

Challenge

Office retailer Staples needed to paint a clearer picture of how the work they were doing contributed to the company strategy.

Their product team leader realized they needed a better roadmapping tool than the standard office tools they had. They wanted to visualize what the team was up to for executives and other stakeholders, specifically how each product manager’s tasks were helping to push their product forward.

Solution

After searching for roadmap applications and signing up for a free trial, Staples' product team leader Laura Kaeppner started roadmapping right away. Kaeppner liked to the tool so much that she quickly enlisted ten of her product managers to use Strategic Roadmaps too.

What they got was more than just roadmaps – it was visibility and clarity into how Staples' products would evolve and the ease with which all that data was shared.

The executive team at Staples were so pleased with the visualization and sharing capability of Strategic Roadmaps, that they took the tool and implemented it across the entire company to help all teams share their plans and align on what is coming next.
