Tempo Fit Bastard 2016

You know what they say about “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”?

At Tempo, we sure know how to work hard and play hard. I wouldn’t say that I learned it the hard way as a new(-ish) Templing. But, I definitely learned that at our recent Fit Bastard 2016 competition last Friday.

By the way, don’t be alarmed if you see Miss Piggy, the Flash, or Batman in the pictures. Tempo teams have characters (pun intended)! You will also get to meet our judge - the Fat Bastard from the Austin Powers series.

What’s Fit Bastard?

Tempo’s Fit Bastard competition is an annual event consisting of fun team-building and fitness activities. Templings are divided into teams and given opportunities to earn points in different aspects such as team spirit, creativity, etc. throughout the week before the main event. The team with most points wins the competition.

I thought it would be an easygoing, friendly competition with a lot of giggles over cotton candies and chocolate bars. But no, the teams were out for blood. Well, since we’re in it, it’s all in or nothing, right?

Here are some moments from the day:

(Hop, hop, hop! Go team!)

(May the last one hula hooping win!)

(Ready, set, jump!)

(See that point? That's where you want to land.)

(Tug of war!)

(Keep going!)

Winner of the day: The Treacherous Sunflowers!

Even though they didn’t win in all the categories during the main event, they still emerged as champions of Fit Bastard 2016, because they strategically accumulated points (that most of us neglected) throughout the week.

Remember the team lessons from Tempo’s Mountain Mission a little while back?

They nailed it.

  1. Proper preparation. Check.
  2. It’s not about being the fastest, it’s about being the steadiest. Check.
  3. Stride, but take baby steps too. Check.
  4. Taking a bullet or two for the team. Check.

While the rest of us were reserving energy to sprint towards the finish line during the big day, those Treacherous Sunflowers (as they like to call themselves) went at it slow and steady all week long.

Well done, Sunflowers. Well done!

Not to mention, a huge shoutout and thank you to Tempo’s Time Out team for a wonderful evening!

P.S: If you're wondering, the Time Out team is responsible for all the fun happenings at Tempo.
