We are happy to announce the release of Tempo Planner 3.3 for JIRA with an enhanced team timeline, major improvements to the team timeline sidebar, better date navigation, and more.
Let’s take a closer look at what this brand new release has to offer:
Improved team timeline information for superior planning
For this release, we focused largely on improving the resource planning part of Tempo Planner. Part of that improvement includes adding planning details on the team timelines in a new plan details sidebar. View the plan item details on the team members timeline in a more optimal way than before. Look at details about issues associated with plans, and the workload for sprints and iterations.
Plan details sidebar
To access the plan details sidebar simply click on the plan item on the team members timeline and the plan details sidebar will display on the right side. The sidebar displays plan details regarding who the plan was made for, the name and type of the plan item, and the plan summary. It also shows the start and end dates of the plan, total planned time, and if the plan will be repeated.
On the lower half of the sidebar, information is displayed showing who planned time for team members to work on an item, and when the plan was created. With the plan details sidebar you can ensure that sufficient time is planned for issues by comparing the remaining estimate and planned time. Stay up to date on plan progress and resources.
Cogwheel now accessible from the plan details sidebar
A cogwheel has been added to the top-right of the plan details sidebar. By clicking the cogwheel a team lead has two different actions available, Delete plan or View issue. Delete plan is pretty self explanatory, if you have selected a plan item on the timeline, then you can delete that plan by click the cogwheel and selecting Delete plan.
The view issue action will open up a new browser tab and navigate you directly to the JIRA issue view for the selected plan item without having to redirect to another view.
Easily adjust plans for team members as needs change
We’ve made improvements to the team members timeline by allowing users to edit plan items directly from the timeline view without being redirected to another view. In-line editing is now possible directly from the plan details sidebar as well. Easily edit information about time that is planned for issues, projects, versions, components, or sprints.
Warning display for overallocated team members
Team leads will now be able to immediately view during the planning phase, if their team members are overallocated, directly on the team members timeline. A red bar will appear above the plan item and when you hover over it, a message will appear showing how much the team member in question is overallocated. Make sure you’re fully utilizing your team and not under- or overallocating your team members.
Improved ‘Create Plan’ sidebar
Major changes have been made to the create plan window to enhance the user experience in Tempo Planner. To start with, the create plan window has been moved to the team timeline sidebar. This allows our users to view the timeline while they’re creating a plan.
On top of that, more capabilities have now been added to the create plan sidebar for exceptional planning. Team leads can now create plans and select the user they want to plan for, the plan item type, search for the plan item, and much more.
Create plans for issues, projects, versions, components, or sprints
On the ‘Create plan’ sidebar, you can now plan on different levels by first selecting a plan item type (issue, project, version, component, or sprint) and then the individual plan item. Also, if you plan time for work on an issue, important details about the issue are displayed when you save the plan.

Enhanced Date Navigation on the Team Members Timeline
Until now, periods on the Tempo Planner timeline have been restricted to only a week view. In this release we really wanted to allow the user to be able to customize his own period to fit his needs. As a result, the Planner Team timeline has been drastically improved.
Instead of having to navigate between periods using the arrows on the date navigation and only being able to view plans by the week view, we wanted our users to be able select a custom period planning according to their needs. The new date navigation allows users to display the planner timeline by days, weeks, or months. With the new date navigation, we enable our customer to tailor the timeline view to their exact needs.
Improvements to the Program Board
We made some considerable improvements to our Program Board in an effort to make the experience even smoother and reduce any pain points. We gave the Program board UI a makeover and refactored it for better performance.
In this release we also introduced the project colors to the Program Board. The project colors are intended to help teams focus their project plans with custom project colors. Easily distinguish between epics on the program board with the project colors.
This release also includes a number of other smaller improvements and fixes to Tempo Planner. For even more information check out our Tempo Planner 3.3 Release Notes for the full list of improvements and fixes.
