FLEXIBLE PLANNING AT THE GRANULAR LEVEL
The end of the sprint is looming and now you want to start project managing on the granular level. Your new friend, Tempo Planner, will help you get down to the nitty gritty and assign individual issues, stories or tasks to tighter timeframes. Here’s the easiest way to do that.
Note that if, however, you were looking for a way to get an overview of how sprints are allocated to team members, you will need to enter the sprint backlog.
Click Tempo in the JIRA navigation bar at the top of the page. In the drop-down list which appears, click the team you wish to plan for under the heading TEAMS
Once you have the team view for the team you wish to plan for, click PLANNING in the upper-right corner.
In the Tempo Planner timeline, choose the plan item you wish to work with and click the plan item’s unique JIRA title. Now the Plan Item Sidebar will appear on your right-hand side.
Hover over the name of the plan item and click the pencil icon, which appears to the right of the plan item name in the Plan Item Sidebar. Where the pencil was, you will now have an arrow pointing downward – click the arrow and a drop-down menu will appear.
Here you will see the issues, stories, or tasks which the plan item is subdivided into and choose the sub-item which you wish to allocate to a specific team member.
Click the name of the sub-item and you will see the Plan Item in the Tempo Planner Timeline transform into the individual task you wished the team member to focus on. The color of the plan item may change to reflect the transformation.
Now you can move this subcategory plan item on the timeline and modify it as assigned to this team member, just as you would with a sprint or a higher-category plan item.
So this is how to do planning with issues. One more neat trick to help you plan more effectively so you can delegate tasks and share priorities in the most effective manner possible.
Because the things that get measured are the things that get done. Measure twice – cut once.
