Tempo’s Best of the Best — Our Developers’ Favorite Tempo Timesheets Features

There have been a number of awesome new features added to Tempo recently, and planned for release in the near future. But what better way to get to know some of them than by learning first-hand from the team that created them?

We asked some of our developers about their favorite feature in Tempo’s time tracking JIRA add-on. Here’s what they had to say:

bjarni

Bjarni Þorbjörnsson

Bjarni is an experienced developer, Scrum Master, and master of agile best practices, who has been a member of the Tempo team since the very beginning.

What’s your favorite Tempo feature?  Tempo’s API.

Why is it your favorite?  It gives customers the possibility to connect to all kinds of systems, such as accounting and reporting.

Did you work on its development? Yes.

Are there any changes or improvements in the future for this feature?  Yes, we are adding new API’s for Tempo management in the coming months.

Benedikt Bjarni Bogason

Benedikt works on custom development and Tempo’s Labs features, and is currently working on the next Tempo release.

What’s your favorite Tempo feature?  The new Tempo Permissions, coming out in Tempo 7.5.

Why is it your favorite?  It provides a simpler, more elegant way of controlling access to various Tempo features, giving much finer granularity as to who has access to what.

Did you work on its development?  Yes.

Are there any changes or improvements in the future for this feature?  This is a brand new feature, but we will be adding further permissions in coming releases.

Jón Þór Árnason

Jón Þór is a newer member of the Tempo team who has been hard at work on bringing some amazing new features to Tempo 7.5.

What’s your favorite Tempo feature?  Tempo’s new Workload Schemes, which will be introduced in Tempo 7.5.

Why is it your favorite?  Being able to define workload for users depending on their needs makes Tempo the ideal time-tracking product for companies with workers all over the world.

Did you work on its development?  Yes.

Are there any changes or improvements in the future for this feature?  This will be a new feature, so there will likely be improvements to come.

Guðleifur Kristjánsson

Gulli is also a newer member of the Tempo team, though has been working in development for over five years. He is also a Scrum Master, who has been hard at work developing an exciting new Tempo product, which will be released later this year.

What’s your favorite Tempo feature?  Tempo’s report views.

Why is it your favorite?  It enables users to quickly view issues and worklog descriptions.

Did you work on its development?  Yes, I’ve worked on more recent improvements.

Are there any changes or improvements in the future for this feature?  We are constantly aiming to improve the reports, and to respond to user feedback!

lulli

Lúðvík Snær Hermannsson

Lúlli recently joined the Tempo team as a web developer on a new, top secret Tempo product, which will released in the upcoming months.

What’s your favorite Tempo feature?  Tempo’s print views.

Why is it your favorite?  It gives users very readable and basic printable view of all the time tracking reports that they might want, from timesheets to table reports.

Did you work on its development?  Yes.

Are there any changes or improvements in the future for this feature?  We will be adding more information to the print views, such as planned time.

Árni Freyr Snorrason

Árni Freyr is currently a part-time member of the Tempo team, while he finishes his last year of university, where he’s working on his degree in computer software development.  He has worked on the new Tempo Labs features, and is currently working on new product development.

What’s your favorite Tempo feature?  Tempo’s gadgets (introduced in Tempo 7.3).

Why is it your favorite?  The graphical presentation of logged work gives users a better overview of their time and work.

Did you work on its development?  Yes.

Are there any changes or improvements in the future for this feature?   We have had a lot of feedback already and hopefully we can add new exciting gadgets to Tempo in the future.

Viðar Svansson

Viðar is Tempo’s Product Manager, who has been driving innovation and customer stories into each new Tempo release since the very beginning. More recently, he’s been driving the development of new Tempo products, which will be unveiled beginning later this year.

What’s your favorite Tempo feature?  Tempo’s real-time time tracker.

Why is it your favorite? It makes it possible for developers to track when they start on a task and for how long they work on it. It also helps keep users focused by showing them what they are currently working on in JIRA.

Did you work on its development?  Yes.

Are there any changes or improvements in the future for this feature? We strive to make the tracker as easy to use as possible, and we will continue to improve on that in the future. We have also received ideas about new features, such as the ability to pause the tracker, which we hope to implement in the coming months.
