TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND THE COMPANY

I’m a Product Manager for ReSight AS, a software company developing solutions for utility and facility management organisations. We are located in Oslo, Harstad, and have 13 employees. Our business focuses on an issue management solution for utility companies based on Atlassian’s Jira and Tempo Timesheets, together with a custom plugin that serves as a map solution and a mobile client.

HOW RESIGHT’S CUSTOM PLUGIN WORKS

Our solution is based on JIRA, Tempo Timesheets, and our own custom plugins — that is, three different map plugins, a resource calendar, our Android mobile client, and a database for infrastructure objects. We are also using Apache MQ and Apache Camel to make best possible integrations with our customers’ maintenance systems.

Picture 1 shows a utility company’s main infrastructure as a map object and their favorite filters (All open issues, All issues being worked on, etc.).

Our customers can create issues directly from the map by clicking on an infrastructure object. By doing this, they also receive all necessary object data from the database when the issue is created. They can search the map for infrastructure data based on an identification or name and then create their issues.

They can also make an address search in the map and create an issue based on the address. This will take them to the address and Latitudinal/Longitudinal position data when the issue is created. Finally, our customers can also see the current positions of their workers on the map

Picture 2 shows an employee logging his time using a mobile phone. An map overview is also available in the mobile client.

Picture 3 displays our map plugin which is used for planning purposes and can show, for example, all of the planned work in a street or all of the found bugs in the utility company’s infrastructure.

The workers in the utility company use the mobile client to receive and perform issues. They can view the issues on a detailed vector-based offline map, together with the company’s main infrastructure. They are also able to log work on their issues and plan their working time from their mobile phone. In both cases, we are using the Tempo Timesheets API to enable this to happen.

HOW DID YOU DISCOVER TEMPO TIMESHEETS?

We discovered it on the Atlassian Marketplace.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN USING TEMPO TIMESHEETS?

Nearly two years now.

WERE YOU PREVIOUSLY USING ANY OTHER TOOLS FOR TIME TRACKING, RESOURCE PLANNING, AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT? IF SO, WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO MAKE THE SWITCH TO TEMPO?

Yes, we tried a couple of other plugins from the Atlassian Marketplace. None of them had the same possibility for integration with other external systems.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE HOW YOUR ORGANIZATION USES TEMPO TIMESHEETS? WHAT PROBLEM(S) DOES IT SOLVE FOR YOU?

We use Tempo Timesheets for time tracking integrated with our mobile solution, for time planning, vacation planning, and project reporting.

WHAT MAIN PURPOSE(S) WOULD YOU SAY TEMPO SERVES FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION?

Mainly time tracking and resource planning. Everyone in our organization uses Tempo Timesheets every day to log and plan their work. With Tempo, we have managed to significantly reduce time spent on time logging and time reporting.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIFIC FEATURES THAT YOUR TEAM FREQUENTLY USES?

We use Tempo Timesheets often for vacation planning.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHANGE IN YOUR ORGANIZATION SINCE YOU’VE STARTED USING TEMPO TIMESHEETS?

Less administration. Our organization has saved the most time and frustration when it comes to invoicing. It is now reduced to a report, and is easy control every time.

HOW WOULD YOU SAY YOUR EMPLOYEES ARE FEELING ABOUT USING TEMPO TIMESHEETS?

Great. I do not think there are many who like time tracking, and therefore the job of introducing Tempo Timesheets, which significantly simplified their work, was an easy task.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL ANOTHER COMPANY ASKING ABOUT TEMPO TIMESHEETS?

Tempo Timesheets is an easy time tracking and planning solution for JIRA.

ANY FINAL THOUGHTS?

We are waiting for the new planning tool, Tempo Planner!
